Ohhh, the elusive vegan milkshake. A dairy milkshake is oh-so-creamy and it’s next to impossible to recreate that creaminess in a vegan milkshake without using ice cream. Unless of course you use some coconut milk that has thickened up in the fridge overnight. Trust me, once you try it, you’ll never go back.
It’s not that I’m against ice cream. Far from it. It’s just that vegan ice cream is far too expensive to keep on a regular basis in my freezer, and since I seemed to be over-stocked with coconut milk, the solution was simple.
Just one sip of this strawberry banana milkshake and you’ll be in milkshake heaven. It has just the right amount of sweetness from the banana and the vanilla extract helps to create that familiar milkshake taste.
Be sure to use a frozen banana – it helps with the creaminess – but you can use either fresh or frozen strawberries.
These milkshake photos were the first photos I took in my new apartment. I couldn’t get over how amazing the lighting was. It makes such a difference for your windows to be facing a certain direction without direct sunlight. I thought I would go crazy at my old place, constantly taping vellum paper to my windows. Huge photography nerd over here.
I’ll stop blabbing about photography and let you get back to your milkshakes!
